This bar chart (click to get enlarged view in another pane) is produced from a sample of approximately 20,000 visitors to this web site over the last several weeks. The x-axis is measured by the number of visits from a particular county divided by its population in units of millions. The vertical axis simply shows the countries.
Language obviously plays a role here and will undoubtedly skew the results. Even so it is surprising that Singapore comes out ahead, although not so surprising when the small population (approx 5 million people) and high tech nature of the economy is taken into account. The Nordic countries are also keenly interested in analytics technologies, although Norway (for whatever reason) did not make a showing in this top 17.
Australia’s desire to be a leader in machine learning and analytics is given some credibility by this analysis, coming ahead of the US and the UK.
I may produce further analyses of this type depending on interest.
