Smartlogic provides its Semaphore Content Intelligence Platform as a layer that sits above search and content technologies to add semantic intelligence via constructs such as ontologies, taxonomies and thesauri. This adds considerable meaning to otherwise disparate and poorly correlated documents, which in turn improves user productivity and accuracy. There are four main components to the offering:
- Search application framework typically sits over search technology such as a Google search appliance or a Apache Solr search server. It delivers a user friendly interface to search functionality aimed at delivering user productivity.
- Classification and text mining server analyses documents and adds classification tags for future use. Typically the classification is done using a taxonomy and other semantic constructs.
- Text miner helps in the identification of words and phrases that might be candidates for the ontology.
- Ontology manager supports ontology, taxonomy and thesauri creation and maintenance.
This is a highly pragmatic solution to the unstructured data problem, but it does not include data mining technologies found in some other products.
