Oracle provides an extensive set of BI tools and specialized data management platforms. This will mostly be of interest to existing Oracle customers, being fairly expensive and highly proprietary. But for those wedded to the mantra that the Oracle way is the only way, the functionality and architectures offered by Oracle can do anything a business might require.
The Oracle BI Foundation Suite encompasses reporting, dashboards, ad-hoc analysis, multi-dimensional OLAP, scorecards and predictive analytics in one integrated platform. The data visualization capabilities compare well with other products and include recommended visualization for specific data and intent, performance tiles to give prominence to a metric or set of metrics, waterfall diagrams often used in pricing analysis, map views and many others.
Database and data processing feature strongly (as you might suspect) and include several products. Oracle Exalytics is a combination of hardware and software that facilitates high levels of analytics performance. This is an in-memory machine with built in analytics capability to address BI, predictive analytics, data mining and EPM needs. The Oracle BI Suite takes advantage of the Exalytics speed. Oracle Essbase is an OLAP solution and can be implemented on the Exalytics platform for performance improvements. Finally Oracle Exadata Database Machine is a large scale, scalable data warehousing and OLTP database platform. Exaltyics complements Exadata by providing analytics capability.
Other components include BI Publisher. This provides a web based platform for authoring, managing and delivering interactive reports, dashboards and other formatted information.
Oracle BI Suite Standard is aimed at small to medium size organizations, and Scorecard and Strategy Management support execution of strategy by cascading goals down to individual workers and departments.
