Dataminr transforms the Twitter stream and other public datasets into actionable signals, discovering must-know information in real-time for clients in Finance, the Public Sector, News, Security and Crisis Management.
Using powerful, proprietary algorithms, Dataminr instantly analyzes all public tweets and other publicly available data to deliver the earliest signals for breaking news, real-world events, off the radar context and perspective, and emerging trends.
Dataminr for Finance is currently used by the world’s leading hedge funds and investments banks to take action on early market moving information and gain perspective and context from non-traditional sources. Dataminr also services a number of clients in the Public Sector, providing information first when there are lives at stake. In partnership with Twitter, Dataminr developed and launched Dataminr for News, which alerts journalists to breaking news in advance of traditional sources and is now used by hundreds of news organizations globally.
Most recently, Dataminr launched a product for security and crisis management watch centers that warns the world’s largest corporations to emerging threats and crises, ensuring that a corporation’s physical assets and employees are protected.
Dataminr for News helps the newsroom keep an eye on all of Twitter, alerting journalists to real-time leads for them to investigate further. Journalists don’t have to watch a stream of information – the most actionable Tweets find them, including the ones they don’t know they’re looking for. Dataminr for News is an enterprise application, with applicability across the newsroom.
News Professionals are able to define personalized signals based upon the user’s particular topics of interest and regions of focus. Signals are delivered automatically via the application, email, instant message and integration into internal systems. Dataminr for News was developed in partnership with Twitter.
The company was founded in 2009 by former Yale undergraduate roommates Ted Bailey, Jeff Kinsey and Sam Hendel, combining their professional experience in social media signals, technology innovation and Finance.
